There are many ways to quit smoking. There are people who want to quit overtime, while others want to quit gradually. There are also some people who use medications to break their habit. But the safest one is, of course, the natural way to do it. Here are some steps to quit smoking naturally.
1. Quitting smoking gradually is one kind of natural method. Some people, especially those who have just been smoking for a short period, can stop smoking abruptly. But for those who have been smoking for several years and have made it a part of their daily lifestyle, it might be more complicated. For these people, gradually decreasing the number of cigarettes they smoke in one day is the key. Gradually breaking from your bad habit will prepare your body, instead of putting strain on it because of sudden change.
2. Orange juice is another natural step to quit smoking. This popular and all natural drink can remove the nicotine from your body fast. Physically removing nicotine from your system is as easy as drinking an orange juice and could be done for three weeks. But the psychological aspect is quite another story. This is the more difficult part to treat. Addiction is one great battle between your mind over the substance you are addicted to.
3. Also, drinking water regularly is one of the best steps to quit alcohol. Just like orange juice, it cleans your system and flush out all the chemical and unnatural substances inside your body.
4. There were times when you will feel that urge to smoke just one stick of cigarette. Whenever you feel this way, remember to breathe in deeply and hold it in for the longest possible time. Repeat it for about three times and sit down afterward. You might feel a little dizzy or light headed but this a great help to stop your bad habit or addiction. When you smoke, your brain feels a sudden burst of air, which gives you that rush. You can produce the same effect by inhaling deeply. Of course minus the negative effects of smoking such as lung, skin, and dental problems.
5. Do some exercises. Working out and tiring your body in a good way is one of the great steps to kick your cigarette's butt. In doing this, you are clearing your body from all those toxic chemicals. Your mind will also be much clearer. It will also prevent you from craving cigarettes because you are too busy and you will feel ashamed if you will put all your long hours of exercising to waste by giving in to that craving.
6. Always think about what smoking will do to yourself and the people that you love. Smoking has lots of negative effects. Think about what your lungs will look like-all blackened up from cigarette smoke and soot. Or your yellow teeth, black gums, and unhealthy skin. Or your girlfriend or boyfriend trying not to breathe when you kiss because they do not want to smell your breath. Or your child's coughing because of inhaling too much f your cigarette smoke. Think about all of these and your weakening resolve will be strengthened again.
